N14. This thimble, showing a COLORFUL COAT OF ARMS and the name, "SABIE", was sold as a SOUVENIR of SABIE, Mpumalanga, an early GOLD RUSH TOWN in SOUTH AFRICA. It is in the center of one of the largest MAN-MADE FORESTS in the world, and situated on the SABIE, RIVER. In Southern Africa, from 1980 to about 1999, a now defunct company named, COPPERAMA, coated plastic thimbles with brass, copper or gilt colored metals. A SHIELD was applied to the side, These were sold as both commemoratives and souvenirs. These were later reproduced in solid metal.
